In November, Colorado-based footwear brand LEMS launched their first mountain bike shoe, the Trail Thrasher. Clearly, the zero-drop, wide-toebox shoe with retro vibes was a hit, and many sizes quickly sold out online. A new Pro version of the flat-pedal shoe is available starting today, and looking at the specs, this one will likely be popular too.
The Trail Thrasher Pro is waterproof and is made with real leather
The LEMS Trail Thrasher Pro features Nubuck leather uppers with a waterproof membrane underneath to keep feet dry. With no mention of breathability, it is safe to say the Pro version will not offer the same level of ventilation as the original Trail Thrashers, which feature perforated suede on the uppers.
When it comes to waterproof mountain bike shoes, there are already a few choices on the market, notably from Shimano, Fox, Endura, Five Ten, and Fizik.

At launch, there’s just one colorway available for the LEMS Trail Thrasher Pro. The Pro is heavier than the original Trail Thrasher by about an ounce, weighing 14.3oz (per shoe) for a men’s size 10.
Mountain bike shoe brands typically offer models at various price points based on the type of closure the shoe uses. For example, lace-up versions are generally less expensive than models with a ratchet-style closure. Like the original Trail Thrashers, the Pros utilize simple laces, and there still isn’t even a lace keeper on the tongue to prevent the ends from getting sucked into your drivetrain. Buyers looking for a more secure fit could be disappointed that the Trail Thrasher Pro does not add an upgraded hook-and-loop strap or a BOA-like system.
The LEMS Trail Thrasher Pros are priced at $175, which is $20 more than the originals.

These Pros have a Vibram sole
The LEMS Trail Thrasher Pro mountain bike shoes get a Vibram sole with a tread pattern that looks nearly identical to the originals. It’s got the same midsole and insole, which promise a medium-stiff platform with a good amount of cushioning for hard landings.
LEMS shows separate men’s and women’s Trail Thrasher Pros on the website, though we’re told there’s no difference between the two, other than the sizing.
The LEMS Trail Thrasher Pros are now available on the LEMS website for $175.
