My seat post won’t return position when I push the button. I can pull it up when I push the button but it snaps back down when I let go of it. Any recommendations?

Sounds like it lost it’s air pressure. You should be able to inflate it at the bottom of the post.
If it won’t hold air, then it’s likely time for a rebuild.

how hard are they to rebuild?

I have personaly never rebuilt one but i think all it is is taking it apart and replacing seals
