i have a shimano hg 50 9 spd cassette free wheel.its been broke and replaced two times now and the latest one installed is showing signs of the same nature.anyone ever experience this and know what is going on??it messed up my trip to moab this weekend and i want to get it fixed to go back to moab before the weather gets here.i really appreciate any info on this.i dont know what the heck it is.

Over-tightening the cassette lockring can hurt things, but beyond that, I dunno….
My suggestion is get a DT-Swiss hub & SRAM PG990 cassette, and be done with it. -
I’m pretty sure i got i figured out.its deffinatly the pawl body breaking.the one that comes on the sj is just not tough enough and upgrading seems to be the answer.i talked to an old school buddy that mountain bikes also,he said that he did the same thing when he first got a mountain bike.the pawl body kept breaking and he upgraded and hasnt had a problem since.
