Hello everyone,
I am a training coordinator for Minneapolis Community and Technical College, and I am conducting a feasibility study for a new Bicycle Mechanic Program that may be housed at our campus in downtown Minneapolis. This project is still in the early stages, and we are attempting to estimate interest in order to decide if we will move forward. What we can say about this program is…
- We plan on setting our price point about 25% less than other schools around the U.S.
- We are partnering with a local hostel to provide lodging at a reduced rate and which is less than a 10 minute bike ride to our campus
- We are an established college with decades of experience in teaching Continuing Education/Workforce Development Courses
- We plan on hosting demographically specific courses (women only, LGBTQ, etc.)
- We are situated in vibrant and exciting downtown Minneapolis with amazing culture and many interesting things to do
- Minneapolis is an up and coming bicycle center of excellence
- MCTC is working with the Professional Bicycle Mechanics Association to offer a “Third Party Certification”
- MCTC is a public community and technical college and the MCTC Foundation is a 501(C)(3) organization
If anyone is interested in learning more about our program, interested in contributing to this initiative or are serious about getting involved as a student, we would like to hear from you. Please email me at earl.lingerfelt@minneapolis.edu or 612-659-6502 with any questions.
With your interest and support, we can make a Bicycle Mechanic program at MCTC a reality!
Thank you,
Earl Lingerfelt
