      I found this on a hiking forum http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/27183753/ … ?GT1=45002

Looks like there is a chance that mt bikers will have more trails to explore. The hiking forum that I got it from, http://www.viewsfromthetop.com had mixed feelings about it.

"lame duck" Are you referring that he cannot really do anything do to the fact the dems are in charge of congress? They are the ones that do the things, he just signs or vetos. 😃

Now don’t get me wrong – I’d love to see a few trails open up for bike use but…..

      1) at this point it is only a proposal (Bush is trying to get it passed by 11/15)

      2) this does not guarantee that your favorite NP will open ANY trails to biking – the decision will be left to individual park superintendents

      3) even if a park super opens a trail or two – they might not be the most ideal to bikes and there may be limitations as to when you can ride

      4) there was supposed to be an environmental impact study done at 3 parks in 2006 – one of them being Big Bend in TX. Currently Big Bend does not allow biking on any singletrack trails. Not sure what happened to the study. Was it completed? What did it show? Was it ever even done? Anybody know???

That being said, there are a few in RMNP that I’d like to see open…
