As I sit here and gaze out the window at the heavy, ice crusted snow and
page through hundreds of photos from 2008 I can only hope that this year
will bring as much joy and fulfilment. My son and I found ourselves riding with many new friends we met on the
mountain bike forums, including this one, with old friends from past rides,
and all of our friends from the local mountian bike organization we support. Here are just a few of those memories and a hint of the riding we enjoyed
last year.RVMBA group trip to Rays Indoor Mtb Park, Cleveland OH
RVMBA group ride in Wayne National Forest, New Matamoras OH
4 day mini gathering (camping / riding / fellowship) with MTBR group,
Davis WV
A weekend with new MTBR friends near Davis / Canaan Valley WV
RVMBA trip / ride to Quebec Run in PA
RVMBA trip / ride to Big Bear Lake WV and the 24hr race
Of course, one of our favorites, the Slatyfork Shuffle near Slatyfork WV
4 days of riding a comradery. Singletracks and MTBR friends.
which included my first time ever making it all the way down Red Run Trail
without breaking a bike !
Small group trip/ride to North Dolly Sods, Canaan Valley WV
RVMBA trip/ride at North Bend State Park, Harrisville WV
And likely the most awesome trip / ride of the year. 13 members of the
River Valley Mountain Bike Association (RVMBA) joined my son and I in
Davis for three days of riding and camping. I guided them all three days
to places none of them had seen before. What an awesome time.
The pictures go on and the memories will last forever. Weekend after
weekend of riding, trip after trip with good friends, a few times just my
son and I, most times in groups of 4 to 20. I always hope the new year
will be better than the last and for the last 4 years it has. I can only hope
that 2009 will be as good as last year.Lets do it again.

Thanks for the ride stoke and good pics ODN. Lets all have a great year of riding. I hope I can make the Slatyfork Shuffle again this year. Red Run is intrigueing to me. Maybe this year?

Last year Red Run was becoming grown over so this year I hope to make
one of my first trips in spring to that area with my trusty hand saw and
machette. I plan on riding in and working my way through Red Run and
Right Fork. Here is some more Red Run and Right Fork to intrigue you. 😉Entrance to Red Run from Gauley Mtn Trail.
Along the trail
At the lower intersection with Right Fork.
Remember though, Red Run eats deraileurs, chains, cables and tires for
Lunch. This was just an appitizer a few years ago.
And what I had to do to get out.
Here’s just a few from Right Fork (your way out).
Hope we can have it cleared by the time you decide to ride it. Either way
I’d be glad to join you when the time comes. Keep dreamin’, that’s what
I’ve been doing. Hope to see you this spring CCR.ODN
