If you don’t know the name “Lael Wilcox” by now, then you haven’t been keeping up with women’s ultra-endurance bikepacking. Ok, by any stretch of the imagination ultra-endurance bikepacking is a small subset of mountain biking, and the number of women making a name for themselves in this tiny niche? Tiny. Just know that Lael holds the women’s record for the Tour Divide, which she absolutely smashed back in 2015.
This video from Wired is a great overview of her impressive career thus far.
Man, she’s gonna feel that when she hits 50.
Good for her. She seems like a good cyclist and a very tough lady. But I do agree that she might feel it when she is 50. I really hope she doesn’t but the way she is grinding instead of spinning on the climbs that is just very tough on your knees especially when you put over twenty thousand a year on your bike. I can’t imagine not showering for 17 days. I need a shower after a ride or I am not myself. If she loves this good for her.
