Bicycle Bottle Opener

As we’ve written about many times here on Singletracks.com, mountain bikes and beer go hand-in-hand. Beer is part of the mountain bike culture for a large portion of riders. Whether we kick back and relax with a cold brew at home after a great ride or we crack open a bottle before even leaving the trailhead, beer takes second fiddle only to bikes and riding bikes.

While some craft brewers are now offering their sudsy best in aluminum cans, most beers are served in bottles, requiring the use of a bottle opener for those of us that didn’t graduate from a fraternity.

“PedalHappyDesign” offers a bicycle bottle opener that also serves as a headset spacer. And since I practically sleep with my mountain bike, I will now never be without a bottle opener. This 1-1/8” headset is offered in 6061 aluminum with a weight of 16 grams and a stack height of 4.8mm. For the weight weenies, “PedalHappyDesign” also offers the headset in 6/4 titanium with a weight of 10 grams and a stack height of 1.8mm.

Beer Growler Carrier

If you live in any sizeable town or city, it’s likely now-a-days that there is at least one craft brewer within city limits. If the weather is good and the legs are strong, I like to pedal to the breweries from the in-town singletrack. The only drawback to this activity is that if you find a particularly tasty brew that you would like transport back to the casa, hauling a growler to and from the brewery can be awkward.

Yet another offering by “PedalHappyDesign,” the beer growler carrier looks good while making life easy. Though not designed particularly for mountain bikes, the adjustable straps on the all-leather growler carrier will make attachment to your saddle a breeze. The leather even comes in your choice of black, light brown, dark brown, or mahogany.

Bike Tube Beer Koozie

The only thing worse than warm beer is no beer. “Crookedoakdesign” has found a way to recycle all those tubes we used to use before converting to tubeless, and keep our beers ice-cold at the same time. While the outside of the koozie is a recycled bike tube, the inside sports an oh-so-comfy wool liner. The combo keeps both you and your beer happy. “Crookedoakdesign” not only offers koozies that will fit your canned or bottled beverage, but one also comes in a curved design to fit your pint glasses as well.

Upcycled Bottle Opener

One can never have too many beer openers. And besides, why waste broken cogs and chains when they can be converted for performing very important tasks such as opening bottles of beer? The creaters at “treadandpedals” came up with a very clever design to put old parts to great use. This bottle opener can even be converted to a key chain for increased ease of use.

Some days one beer isn’t enough: you need six, which can be hard to fit in your camelback. Fyxation has a solution for this: it is the 6-pack carrier. Though not likely to be compatible with all mountain bikes, particularly full suspension mountain bikes, it may make you go out and buy an extra mountain bike that is compatible with the 6-pack carrier. And let’s be honest with ourselves: as mountain bikers we’re always looking for an excuse to purchase another bike.
