Scott just updated the Ransom enduro / all-mountain bike, and in addition to being compatible with 27.5-inch and 29er wheels, it also has a Fox Nude TR shock that can be adjusted from linear to progressive without tokens or spacers. The Scott Ransom features 170mm of travel front and rear.

Like the Scott Genius, the Ransom accepts either 27.5-inch or 29er wheels, thanks to a flip chip on the frame. The frame fits tires up to 27.5×2.8 or 29×2.6, which should be more than enough for most enduro riders.

The flip chip doesn’t change the geometry a whole lot, nudging the head tube angle from 64.5-degrees in the low bottom bracket position to 65-degrees in the high position. Likewise, the seat tube angle increases half a degree from 75-degrees to 75.5-degrees.

Ramp control.

Scott worked with Fox to develop an exclusive shock for the Ransom dubbed the Scott Fox Nude TR. The shock features a ramp adjust control that takes the shock from linear to progressive at the flick of a switch. It’s also set up to work with TwinLoc, the Scott remote suspension lockout system.

Another thing Scott is known for is pushing the envelope when it comes to building lightweight bikes, and the Ransom frame continues in this tradition. The frame is said to weigh 2,650g including the frame, shock, and hardware. While that’s the lightest Ransom frame to date, Scott claims the frame is even stronger than the previous version. A complete top-of-the-line build weighs just under 29lbs.

Scott is offering both carbon and alloy versions of the new Ransom frame and a total of 6 builds ranging in price from 2,999€ to 7,499€ (about $3,500 to $8,700 USD).

    When you look at the Scott Ransom, you are looking at the future of mountain biking. Long travel. 29×2.6 or 2.8 Plus tires. Modern slack Enduro geometry. Bikes that climb as well as they descend. Wide range 1x drivetrains. A bike like this puts together all of the best mountain bike advancements of the last decade into one package and gives a rider every advantage to successfully ride the most challenging terrain. Why would you ride anything else?!
