Trek just announced a full suspension version of the 29+ Stache, dubbed the Full Stache. Even the company admits, “it’s a little out there, and that’s exactly the idea.” The Full Stache offers 130mm of front and rear suspension travel, and is compatible with forks up to 140mm. While the bike is billed as a trail bike, it’s really best for backcountry rides “exploring primitive trails.”

Unlike other full suspension bikes that can run 29+ wheels, the Full Stache is designed around around the 29+ wheel size exclusively. Trek says the Full Stache can run tires as small as 29×2.6″ but the ideal tire size is 29×3″.

Pairing huge 29+ wheels and tires with 130mm of rear suspension travel was a challenge. Trek went with an unusual chainstay design to make all the clearances work, and they also had to nix the size small (15.5″) frame option. The good news is Trek managed to fit mounts for a water bottle holder inside the frame. Bedrock Bags is offering custom frame bags designed to kit the Full Stache up for bikepacking.

The Full Stache utilizes an aluminum frame and features the Trek Mino Link system which adjusts the head tube angle from 67.4° down to 67°. Click here for the full geometry.

Only a single Full Stache build kit is being offered at this time, though the bike is also available for purchase as a frame set. The Full Stache 8 is priced at $3,699 (on sale now for $3,499) and features a Pike Fork, Bontrager XR4 tires, a SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain, Bontrager Line dropper post, and SRAM Guide R brakes. With tubes, the full build weighs about 33.88lbs. according to Trek. The Full Stache frameset is being offered at $1,999.99 USD.

The all-new Trek Full Stache is said to be available for purchase online and at Trek dealers worldwide starting today.
