It seems like the mountain bike newswires are full of mountain bike race news these days. Rather than bore you with race results I thought I’d talk about a couple upcoming races you might want to plan to attend, including one in 2012.
Yep, UK mountain bikers are (still) crying foul over the planned 2012 Olympic mountain bike course planned for Essex – an area generally lacking mountains (or hills for that matter, according to some). An alternate proposal to host the event at an established mountain biking area in Wales is being floated by supporters and organizers. At least there is still time to get things figured out – 2012 seems like a long way away…
Another big mountain bike event is set to take place a little sooner in Las Vegas – the Mountain’s Edge 2008 Cactus Cup Las Vegas. Apparently the 3-day mountain bike festival and stage race has been on hiatus but it’s back and scheduled to take place the weekend before Interbike, September 19-21. The website is pretty sparse on details for such a huge event happening in less than 3 months, we’ll try to keep you posted if you hear more.
