Trail Description
About this trail
A 9.5 mile trail that goes along the lakeshore to the Petersburg camping area. It is technical in some areas but mostly for novice-intermediate riders. I have been riding fior 10 years and use it for speed work. You can easily get an average speed of 10-11 mph.

Review: I like to go to Bartam for a relaxing ride from time to time. They have been doing some logging on the West Dam side. I went to the Wildwood side and there was more logging over there. They have cut some roads into the area and it is a little soft in those spots, multiple trees across the trail. Hopefully the logging will be completed soon.

Review: A lot of fun!! Nothing to challenging but if you love to ride, go fast, with lots of cornering this is the trail. If you come from out of town there is plenty of camp sites.

Review: Very easy flow trail with lots of pain straw. Make sure you do the lake loop. Has a little more elevation and is very pretty.

Review: Very nice trail. My son, who is 9 years old and a beginner, had a great time on this trail. It is very easy going and mostly flat. There were a few areas that he had to get off and push his bike up a hill, but nothing too bad for his age and level. We did not take the lake loop which is an intermediate level trail. There was a 'T' intersection that could have used a little better signage...go left if you want to avoid the lake loop.

Review: Great ride today. I rode from the Petersburg trailhead to the Lake Springs loop. I love this 9.5 mile loop. A big thanks to whoever cleared all the trees that were downed by Hurricane Irma.

Review: Trail is in great shape. Very good trail to practice with speed. Like to add that this trail is easily marked and would be next to impossible to get lost, even if you had no signs at all. Wanted to add that after reading a negative review below.

Review: The first mile or so of this trail was great. Then it just got very bland. The trail marking went from great to non-existent. I got about 4.5 miles out on the trail and it just ended at the lake. Evidently I made a wrong turn somewhere. I traced my way back trying to find the trail and just went back to the truck. Maybe if there is a next time I will try the ride from the dam.

Review: Great trail for beginners! Nice flow of mostly flat/rolling terrain in the woods and along the lake. Wife loved the open area and ease of riding. So much better than pumping station or canal trail in Augusta. This is worth the 25 minute drive from the town. Not to far from F.A.T.S. Combine both of these trails for a day full of excellent riding!
