Q: Why is the back section of the VMT closed off? Why isn't there a sign saying so @ the trailhead? -Guest
A: Van Michael Trail is back open. KP has been restored.
A: A portion of the VMT is closed due to instability at "Kevorkian pass." It's estimated about $15K worth of work will need to be done to shore up this section. Rest assured, however, that once Kevorkian Pass is stabilized it will be as hair raising as ever. (Van Michael pun not intended.) Not sure why there are no signs at the trailhead. Perhaps they want to keep curious people out of the area.
