Lots of tough switchbacks on both sides of the mountain. Tight and steep. Fair amount of technical features: roots and rocks. The western end has the toughest part of the descent.
The Off Road Assault on Mt. Mitchell delivers 62 miles and 10,500 feet of Pisgah suffering, earning its reputation as the Southeast's toughest endurance race.
The Jerdon Mountain Challenge offers 26 miles of western North Carolina climbing as a perfect warm-up for the legendary Off Road Assault on Mt. Mitchell.
