Mountain Biking Stafford Gulch
#613 of 1,379 mountain bike trails in Colorado
Stafford Gulch used to be an old 4x4 road, but it's now technically only open to bike, horse, and foot traffic. This narrow doubletrack descends down the gulch, as it drops quickly down through the mountains towards the Arkansas River. I only dropped down this 1.7 miles, since I didn't want to get stuck a couple thousand feet lower with no alternative but to turn around and climb back out. Still, this is a beautiful ride in a gulch that is, despite starting in the "town" of Turret, so remote you really need to be self-sufficient and on your A-game.
