Trail Description
About this trail
The fire road up is a kind of stairway to heaven. It provides easy access to the top where you can access a spider web of great, narrow, singletrack downhills, some including north shore-style stunts. The only drawback is that the downhills seem to be over in a flash. Oh, well, just climb back up and do it again!

Review: We rode later in the day; don't make the same mistake! Get out early and enjoy all this area has to offer. The ups and downs are steep and worth the burn. Roots on the trails and stumps close to the trail will keep your senses on task. Once the system is well marked, it will be nice. We took a couple thinking we were following the same trail to find out we were not! Those double black diamonds crept up on us, haha. The summit is worth every pedal. The views were awesome at sunset. We were able to get some night riding in and that was the perfect finish.

Review: These free ride trails have been my favorite rides all year. Maple Syrup is the intermediate trail but some sections should be marked black diamond, which is my favorite trail on the hill. You climb to the top and enjoy the ride down.

Review: ..a freeride trail system, would be better as a shuttle ride. Lame logging road climb for several miles spent dodging horse crap. At the top there are two choices - left or right. Right, Otter Pop, is in good shape and a fun ride. The left trail splits into several trails at the top - Maple Syrup was very easy and lame; Recess was a great advanced trail; "Flow trail" (can't recall exact name) was supposedly closed on my 1st loop then someone moved the sign on another run so I tried it, great flow and fun but some huge drops / jumps with sketchy landings / poorly maintained overgrown. Some of the lower, more technical, trails such as Malice were closed, I walked some of it and the wood stunts are in sad shape with rotten, broken wood. Also lots of horse crap on lower trails and some fairly beat up by the horses. If you're a free ride fan and want lots of cardio, have fun. For XC or all-mountain fun, pass - try one of the other trail systems.

Review: Outstanding trails right next to Whitefish. Steep and technical at the top, flowy and bermy at the bottom. Top Notch!

Review: Something for everyone here with longer loops to the backside and shorter to the top and down. Difficulty is equally varied between North Shore stunts to double track. Lots of up and down options for the X/C person. Drawback right now is two "horse ranches" with pack train type guides on the back side of it getting bigger. See Flathead Fat Tires online for more information

Review: This is a network of trails that allows all levels of riders with 8-10 mile loops or Northshore style DH. The Flathead Fattires group will have a map posted at the parking area for Summer 2011. Awesome stuff here but it is multiple use so some trails have horses.
