Trail Description
About this trail
The new multi-use trail, designed for mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding, is located on the backside of Snow Summit, and begins where the US Forest service roads 2N10 and 2N06 meet. The trail parallels the 2N10, and snakes from east to west. It currently finishes at Forest Dream single track trail west of 2N10. The views come complete with Mount San Gorgonio in the background offering an absolute WOW factor!
The Skyline Trail is designed to become the backbone of a new South Shore trails system with connections to existing trails and future trails. The Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation and US Forest Service will resume construction of the trail in the next year. When the trail is completed it will meander through the forest for a 15 mile loop that starts and ends at the backside of Snow Summit.

Review: Great trail, one of my favorites. I definitely would **not rate this trail "beginner." Lots roly hills, some tech rock stuff, all single track (unless you want to pop onto the truck trails). So fun!! So pretty too!! Nice views and shade. Lots of trees and friends to be made. :)

Review: Skyline offers epic views, challenging climbs and fun flowy down hill sections. Its the best xc ride in Big Bear.

Review: Just rode Skyline .Started on the Bear Mountain side.
Super nice trail.Trail is a climb right out of the trailhead. Its a great climb and the elevation makes it a challenge. Just keep climbing until you hit Grandview. From there you can turn around, keep going,or bomb down into town...
Best thing is you can do 1 hour or 3..
And you are high in the mountains.Be prepared for anything out on the trails.

Review: This trail has been extended westward and is now about 15 miles long. Proceeding west from Grandview Point it is a solid intermediate (blue) level trail. The trail follows the ridge line with a lot of short ups and downs. Occasional boulders present some technical challenges but aren't too difficult to get over. At about mile 10 the trail starts to descend back towards Big Bear Lake. There are some fun stretches on the descent where you can really pick up speed. The trail eventually ends up at Forest Service road 2N10 which leads to Mill Creek Rd and Hwy 18 a little west of the Village of Big Bear Lake.

Review: Rating a trail seems nuts to me, if you were not in pretty good shape and hated climbing by the time you rode from Summit Mt parking lot to beginning of the single track(about 3 miles and 1000 ft of elevation) You would think this ride 100% sucked. However if you're in OK shape like to suffer a little on climbs when you hit the single track your rewarded with miles of flowing single and a few challenging switch backs & rock sections. Personally Skyline is what mountain biking is about.

Review: Love it, great surroundings to ride in. Skyline to Plantation is a great ride. The mountain isn't marked well in some areas though.

Review: They have redone the trail so it is now longer with a lot of switchbacks. Technicality is actually more or a beginner in my opinion but you need some endurance as the trail is 8 miles or so. The views are breathtaking and I always get perfect weather. Big bear is one of my favorite places!

Review: This is a fun trail to ride with great views. It starts out pretty easy with hardly any climbing and fun slightly banked turns. The further you go the more technical and challenging the trail gets. It is a great connector trail to get you over to some very fun trails to get you back down the mountain.
