Mountain Biking Rockport Park MTB

****   Add a review
#45 of 382 mountain bike trails in Wisconsin
#1306 in the world

Rockport park has a network of singletrack trails built around wide cross country ski trails which are groomed ski trails only during the winter season. New signage was installed in 2018 as part of an Eagle Scout project. There are two main loops (West & East) and a connector trail that joins them. Plus there are several alternative trails to lengthen your ride. The single track trails have directional arrows for bikers and hikers to follow. So just jump on the first one you see and explore the trail system. From the Main Trail Head off the circle parking lot, there is a trail that crosses the wide cross country ski trail just a few yards down the path. Follow the arrows. The path makes a loop and connects to other trails. Most of it is bench cuts on fairly steep hill sides around the streams in the area. It's generally not to difficult technically but there are some climbs and descents. Very nice trail system. Enjoy your ride.

I have ridden here a few times this summer, and the trails were always in good condition, even a few days after moderate rainfall. The layout is excellent and ideal for people that are just starting out. Also great for cardio training as you can pedal hard through most of it.
The trails are very well marked and have several spots to bail out. It can occasionally be a bit confusing the first time out as it overlaps with doubletrack intended for rescue vehicles and cross country skiing.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
If parking in the east lot (where google maps will likely take you) I would recommend making sure to store your personal belongings out of plain view and lock your doors. I haven't heard of any particular theft incidents, but every time I have parked there always seemed to be people parked in older, beat up cars that don't seem to have a particular reason to be there. Maybe they are just relaxing on their lunch break or enjoying a local "smoke" spot, I don't know but just felt it would be worth mentioning.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Also, I don't know how often it is updated, but you can check trail conditions by visiting Michael's Cycles website, belonging to a local bike shop.

My favorite place to ride in the area. Trails have a nice flow to them and the signage really helps. The features are fun and trail can get technical in spots but it isn't too advanced. Climbs aren't bad either. Just overall a super fun intermediate ride.

Rockport is pretty cool. It took me a bit of exploring to realize how much is out there. plenty for a day of riding. It's all built around the cross country so there's some riding around connectors involved.
