Trail Description
About this trail
This ride offers just about everything. Singletrack, doubletrack, old woods road, forest road, vistas, tough climbs, awsome descents, easy, intermediate, and advanced trails.
Start from the trail head taking a Left on the road you drove in on. At the intersection with McCall Dam Rd turn Right up the hill. Climb the hill and begin the descent until you reach Black Gap Rd. Turn Left on Black Gap Road. Just after the parking lot on the Left make your first Left on the old woods road. This is McCall Field Rd. Continue on this trail and stay to the Right as McCall Field Tr heads to the Left. You will now be on Jamboree Trail. Follow Jamboree until you can make a Left onto Black Gap Trail. Follow Black Gap to Engle Rd and make a Left. At the intersection with Tunis Rd make a Right and ride until you come across Hough Mt Trail/Halls Trail on your Right. There are a few spurs off of this trail but it is pretty obvious which way to go. If you get dumped out on PA-880 you made a wrong turn. For the most part keep Right. Hough Mt meets up with Hall Trail and loops you back down to onto Engle Rd not for from where you came out from Black Gap Trail. Cross the brigde and gate at the cabin and turn Left on Engle Rd. Follow Engle Rd down over the hill passing straight thru the intersection. Look out for and take a Left on White Deer Creek Trail ( a rocky but very rideable trail, not the rockiest you will see either). Follow this trail across to McCall Dam State Park and make a Right on the road. Almost immediately take a Left onto White Deer Creek Rd. Make your first Left onto Green Hollow Road (I believe, either way its your first left) Climb the hill untill the elbow where you will make a Right onto Duncan Trail. Mostly flat, but bumpy, this trail will take you over to Cooper Mill Rd. You should be able to hear the traffic from I-80. Take a Right on Cooper Mill and head down the hill. At the elbow go left thru the gate onto Cowbell Hollow. Run Cowbell Hollow up and over the other side of the ridge making sure to ride carefully on the washed out drop of the mountain. You will pop out behind a white cabin. Go around the cabin, cross the bridge go around the gate. Make a Right on White Deer Creek Rd. Just down the road make a Left switchback turn onto Running Gap Rd. Climb the hill on this unmaintained forest road and have fun on the downhill on the other side. Running Gap spits you out at Spruce Run Road. Take a Right and climb until you reach the intersection with Cooper Mill Road and take a Left. Not to far up Cooper Mill turn Right onto the singletrack at the Old Tram Trail sign. This trail is labled on some maps as Buffalo Flat Tr and will connect you will Old Tram. This trail is rocky but fun. Follow the singletrack passing the intersection with the Mid-State Trail. Just past this intersection you will reach the intersection with Old Tram Trail, take the Right down the hill.(If rocky as hell isnt your thing keep heading straight past this intersection for a shorter and less rocky finish to Buffalo Flat that will put you out at Sand Mountain Road, take a Right and run it back to the trail head). But like a said take the right on Old Tram Trail and get ready for the rocks. Pedal thru them if you can you'll feel great when you make it. Old Tram comes to a T intersection with Boiling Spring Trail just beside a powerline. Take a Left and bomb down this nice little trail, stopping at the spring to your left if you wish, to just below the trail head at the beach. There, now you came to R.B. Winter and rode some of the best the surrounding trails have to offer. Don't you feel great? Take a dip in the lake, grill a hot dog, you deserve it. Oh and don't feel bad if you can't wipe that silly ear to ear grin off your face.

Review: Lots of fun riding in RB Winter. Slightly less rock than you'll find in Rothrock. Slightly. Mellow climbs. Nice lake to chill at after the ride.

Review: Trail is fun. Lots of rock. Navigation is a bit tricky - I didn't found any map for it and not too many signs around neither. Better to ride with locals.

Review: Rode parts of this trail system with a friend and all I have to say is that it is awesome! My friend and I like rocky and technical terrain and on some of these singletrack trails we were in heaven! Some incredible downhills as well, very steep. Some tough up hill rides too.

Review: ROCKY ROAD- I road this course as part of the Xterra Trimax Triathlon. The loop is awesome except for the rock gardens, or should I say rock hell. I like a challenging course just like the next guy (or girl) and this course has lots. Climbs, singletrack and a little downhill, but for me, (what seemed like) miles of loose rocks was a spoiler. If you love rocks, you've found heaven.
