One of the most beautiful trail rides you can do but definitely a KNOW before you GO scenario. Weekends are a mess. Even week day afternoons are rough. Try to go early morning week days if possible. Half of the trails here are not bike friendly. Fire road obviously is, but stick to Ishibashi and down or Panorama and down. There are more bike trails in the reserves directly north and south of Portuguese. These connect via Kelvin Canyon to the north and Conqueror to the south.

EPIC VIEWS. This place has a few sweet trials, but most are not MTB specific which cuts some flow. One nice flowy DH run is Ishibashi. There are a few other Nature Reserves in the area but any trails to connect them were overgrown, not designed well or just non-existent. They do have a managed reserve and went to help trail work which they have quite often and was pretty cool. I go back there fairly often.
