This trail is great for a beginner with not a lot of climbing experience. Even so, my husband was challenged. We only rode 5.7 miles and stopped once for 15 minutes to talk to some locals, and he walked several inclines. The elevation gain was only 405 feet in that 5.7 mile range and would be super easy for an experienced rider. This trail would be great for a "rest day" ride, or if you didn't feel like getting out all of your safety gear. I just wore helmet and wrist protective gloves. It's very exposed, so cool weather would be best for riding this trail. We encountered one jogger, and about 4 mountain bikers total. Just a fun ride, but we really didn't encounter anything technical.
