Review: Phoenicia Trail Is not much of a trail. It wasn't very long and I estimate that it was about 2 or 2.5 miles long. I was in and out of there in 45 minutes (and I'm a slow rider). I couldn't track the mileage because there was no cell service in that area to download the map information for the GPS. This would be a good trail for someone who lived close by and wanted to get in a quick ride.

The unmarked trail started off rocky and rooty, then it opened up to flat, wide and packed macadam. What I loved about the trail was how quiet it was. The rain had just stopped and I drank in the fresh air scented with the fallen pine needles. The trail going out presented a gentle uphill (1%) grade and ended at an area that was swampy and looked like it had been recently clear cut.

Review: I really can't give a thorough review as I only did a small section of the trail before I took a mean spill and broke my pedal, some spokes and bent my brake handle. But from what I saw, it had good rocky and rooty technical sections, a few ramps, bridges and logs to jump and one really creative bridge that went up and through a huge root system from a fallen tree. The catskills are really beautiful and it was a great ride... until I dumped it on some loose rocks. I'm definitely going back in the future. Also, the town of Phoenicia has a few cool looking restaurants and pretty hip vibe.
