Trail Description
About this trail
These are two area for the trails. The first is about 3-4 miles. Follow the arrows. At the end of the trail depending on which way you go, you will end up at Tyvola. You can cross Tyvola and after will be on Farmbrook. Cross the road and your first left into a deadend you will see the trails behind a house. This is the second part and longer of the trails about 6 or 7 miles. Not to many people know about the trails. Don't even try to ride a day after rain. I was sliding and slipping all over the place. This is a hard course.

Review: Love riding this local trail. It's very technical and keeps you paying attention to your form. Definitely not a trail for beginners or kiddies. The one negative would be getting more signage, including some at the entrances mapping out the various trails with in. Thank you to all that keep this trail in great condition.

Review: Best trail in Charlotte hands down. This trail system is a triple threat! Flowy, technical, and some sweet jumps. I highly recommend it! I would not bring little Johnny with you or any newbies, this trail does require some experience.

Review: Rode these trails recently when in Charlotte visiting a buddy. These are pretty kick ass, hand cut local trails with lots of features tucked in behind a neighborhood. Props to whoever built these trails!

Review: This is a great trail to work on all your fundamentals and learn some new tricks. There is little flow to this trail. It has a lot of technical places to work on just about everything you can imagine. Rock gardens, big roots, drop offs, steep technical descents and climbs. I had a good time out here working on techniques and body position. I gained a lot of confidence in the hour I had to play today.

Review: If you like flow - this is the last place you want to go. This is a super technical trail, where you can never really grab speed. Tight turns, a lot of big roots and rocks. Not my type of riding - may be for some people but not for me. Aside from this, it was extremely overgrown, a ton of Ivy, and branches in your face constantly. Much prefer Sherman and USWWC over this any day.

Review: Great trail for the location- could use better marking- just want to say that this seems to be marked as expert based on the jump lines- if you are looking for a trail with some jump park attributes you will like this- if you are looking for a ride that will kick your ass this is not it.

Review: Two new jump lines have been added in the past couple months and have added a cool spot to hang out and learn how to dirt jump.

Review: Mixed review.
I loved the technically challenging parts like the rail crossings, tight turns and whoops. The rocks and roots kept it interesting - loved it. Rode with my hardtail no problem.

The major downfall for me was the lack of directionals. Def not enough signs and I found myself riding the same part a few times. About two thirds of the way in I had no idea where I was going. I flew in from overseas to ride trails and I would probably skip this one. Great trail but the lack of directionals are frustrating.

Review: Hats off to those who've built and maintain the Back Yard Trails. They've done an amazing job with the space available. I've ridden there several times now, and will continue to do so as it's so close to the office. Nice jump lines that beginners can bypass, some natural technical stuff, and creative obstacles. The poo trail is neat, even though it's a slow ride. There are only quick, punchy climbs with short descents, but it's good to go in terms of getting your heart rate up.

The only drawback to riding the Back Yard Trails is that in spite of the great work done in creating these trails in such a small area, it's size requires lots of tight turns, doubling back on itself, and sometimes criss-crossing. As a result, you really can't ever settle into a groove and spin. So, if you're in the mood for a longer, XC type ride, this shouldn't be your first choice in the area.
