Had an absolutely fantastic time riding the north trails. Everyone we ran across gave us good tips on where to ride and enjoy the scenery. Trails are very well marked and a blast to ride. Would recommend these trails.
Rented some fat tire bikes and went to the north trails to try them out instead of the normal SBR because we were told it was too warm. The trails were fairly well maintained, but there were people everywhere with dogs, including other bikers. It wasn't too big of a deal, just avoid falling in yellow snow. Would recommend checking Marquette out for winter biking.
That being said, during the summer these and the south trails are nothing special compared to Copper Harbor, and CH has a WAY better atmosphere too. We had the misfortune of running across the new club president for NTN while we were cross country skiing, and WOW, was she a rude snob. She was so rude that after our encounter, we just turned around and left. Also, this NTN club is pretty hardcore about you giving them money. Be aware that ONLY the forestville trailhead costs money to ride, not the south trails. I had to call the DNR to find out what the deal was.
Overall, I'd recommend checking out Marquette for fat tire biking and their summer trails, but the summer trails only for a change of pace. I love Marquette as a city, but their mountain biking trails are not comparable to Copper Harbor, and you dont run into BS in Copper Harbor either!
Incredible new trails on Marquette's north side. Fast flowing singletrack with awesome views of waterfalls. Trail has long bridges and rock obstacles one of which is an old foundation. Can't wait ride future trails in this new system.
Awesome network, good variety, worth the drive.
Thank |Great trails.
Thank |Technical and easy to get lost, lots of rock.
Thank |The signage on this trail system is terrible. It needs fixing.
