Trail Description
About this trail
Awesome singletrack loops in Central Oklahoma. Four loops total, @ 6-7 miles each, 27 miles total. Well-marked trails, good trail map available at Ranger Office at Park entrances on both sides. Lots of shade, very few other bikers, take lots of bug spray and water. Short climbs, switchbacks in a forested and/or prairie environment! You can ride most of the trails fast, but there are some rock outcrops, rooted climbs, sometimes sandy corners, and a few washouts. Aerobic difficulty will depend on how many miles you ride; About 5 for one loop only. Trails are usually well maintained, but can be overgrown in the summer. Cooper's Bike shop on Main Street in Stillwater will have most of what you might need.

Trail Q&A
Rider Questions

Q: How soon can you ride after a rain? -Guest

A: Depends on the season. 1/2" of rain during the growing season will get soaked up within 12hrs usually, but that same 1/2" when things are dormant could take several days.

Review: Love these trails. Sections through the woods that are a moderate ride, mostly ease but with enough semi-technical stuff to keep it interesting but not so much I feel like I'm just trying to survive my ride. I start at the red trail, head over the dam and connect with a tough (but short) gravel climb, which connects to more forest trails. Then double back over the dam and rejoin red trail. Awesome ride!

Review: Not too wet, but a lot of tree branches and even trees down in spots, some you need to ride around. Otherwise great trails and another cooling plunge in the lake afterward.

Review: Had a great ride today on our tandem mtb. These trails are perfect for it. Everything was mowed. Didn't see much poison ivy except back into the trees, but none on the trail. Meadow sections were warm, but you have to expect that, riding in July. Nice to cool off in the water at the swim area, by the Red trail.

Review: The Blue Trail is a nice, fun trail that allows for some speed in spots. Mostly hard pan, some rocks and roots. Very little sand to deal with. Tight trail with enough sharp turns and descents to keep you on your toes. My 8 year old son only had to walk his bike on a few inclines. Of the two trails on the west side of Lake McMurtry, the Blue is not as tough as the Orange

Review: They have really improved the Orange Trail on the NW corner of McMurtry Park. It has some nice technical stuff at the start, but not too hard (intermediate) and really nice flowy runs in the middle. Great ride!

Review: Rode on the SE side. Red trail was great, flowing singletrack that made for a nice quick loop. Yellow trail was more of the same with several rocky drops and climbs thrown in for challenge. Great place to get an hour or two of riding in. Hope to do the other side of the lake if I'm ever back in the area.
