Mountain Biking Loma Alta Trailhead

***   Add a review
#246 of 401 mountain bike trails in Arizona
#9,155 in the world

Roughly 6mi for the 'preserved' trail (3 out to the fence for AZ Trail, 3 back). Mostly single track, some areas of double. Slightly rocky, 2 great descents for the thrill seekers, tough climb either way. Several trail junctions I have yet to explore personally. Go through the fence at the end for AZ trail which is technical single track.

Getting there
Houghton to Escalante, East on Escalante, make a right at the T intersection and drive until you see the sign for 7mi to colossal cave park. Look for Camino Loma Alta with a (no outlet) sign on the left. Follow to the parking area at the end (dirt)

Elevation change from the start to Rincon Creek at least 500'. Flow there common in spring but not on this monsoon day. Trail is a mix of singletrack with some doubletracks. Some spots are fast descents, moderate climbs.
