Mountain Biking Living Springs Farm Park

  Add a review
#259 of 381 mountain bike trails in New Zealand
#10674 in the world

The Living Springs Farm Park only has 10km of trails but they are good handmade singletrack. Advanced riders will like them.

From the car park you ride steeply up through the farm and then through a pine forest to the top. From there it's nearly all downhill on twisty trail, sometimes quite tricky. After a bunch of zig-zags, twists and turns you'll reach Zane's where the real fun starts. That section has some tight switchbacks and other technical delights as it winds its way down through regenerating forest.

All too soon you'll complete the loop and be ready for the sweaty climb back to the top for another go round.

The trails at Living Springs Farm Park are a work in progress - you can check out current status here: www. Singletrack.org.nz.

Getting there
The Living Springs Farm Park is 16km south of Christchurch across Dyers Pass. When you reach Governors Bay head right towards Teddington and you'll see the Living Springs Farm Park after 3km. There is quite a large sign on the right. Don't turn right up Bamfords Road to the Living Springs Camp; the farm car park is on the right just before that turnoff.

I enjoyed the ride. They are good trails of their type - twisty and technical rather than fast and flowing. I was ready for more when I got to the bottom but the climb straight back up the farm track is just a sweaty grind.
