Pretty accurate write up. I like to ride here from home, enter the park just past the golf course and start on the blue heron/westside trail, then ride south. sometimes add the dogrun trail for a brief but solid up hill/downhill. grab Gude trail and hit an awesome downhill over small bridget then pump hard uphill, 'cecpt I usually turn back around to do it again. steepest hills in the park which I kinda enjoy but not everyones cup of tea. I swing back north on needwood trail to the park entrance, then head back out. It is a good 6 miles usually and good for 30-40 minutes. Note that needwood trail has more dog walkers, kids, etc as its near the boating pavillion, and also that needwood trail is pretty rocky and lots of roots, so you can't go super fast through there anyway. views of the lake are pretty spectacular from almost any trail. added bonus that you can link up to the other side of the park where the meadowside nature center is to add a bunch of miles to the ride. AND you can ride this trail all the way down to DC /Rock Creek park and into Georgetown if you want an all day ride. I intend to do that then ride north on the C&O up to harper's ferry, and bring some camping gear along the way. should be fun.
