Trail Description
About this trail
The trail is good single track. It seems like it gets a lot of use. It has short climbs and a few twisty parts. Nothing to serious. Some parts of the trail you can pick up and maintain some good speed and it makes the ride a blast. Anyone can ride this trail and have some good fun and good training value. You will not improve you technical skill on this trail but it is a good for ride for this area. The trail is maintained really well and decently marked. The trail also ties into Lamotte Creek trail and Wild Azelea trail. Seven miles one way. A really good trail for this area. You will not go home disappointed as I have with so many other trails in the area such as Wild Azelea. There are a few other trails in the national forest but I can not make a decent review because of the rain we have been getting in this area.

Review: Not sure why it says this trail is 25 miles. I believe Kincaid is 9, and the Lakeshore is 10 out and back. Fun trails, nothing too difficult.

Review: Trail was dry and fast today. No downed trees on the 9mile recreation loop. Also the Wild Azelea trail (red, yellow and double yellow diamonds) were also good and clear.

Review: Great trail. One of the best I have been on. It has some tough hills and they are continuous and a smoker.

Review: Myself and two others got a chance to ride here on 3/9/13. The trail has a lot of downhills and a good bit of easy climbing, it seemed to be that way no matter which direction you chose. We were fortunate to be camping right near the trail itself. HOWEVER, while we were there, they decided it was a great weekend to do controlled burning - made it very difficult for us to breathe once the wind shifted all the smoke toward us. Other than the smoke, i'd say that the trail and park are a great trip and i look forward to going back

Review: Very fun and pristine trail. Extremely impressed with the trail maintenance. It was in top condition. Great views too. Not very difficult or technical but still fun. We started at the pay station just before the campground entrance. We traveled the loop in a clockwise direction, keeping the lake on our left side. This is how the trail is marked. There are mileage posts every half mile and blue diamonds every fifty yards or so. The loop is nine miles long.

Review: One of my favorite trails that's within driving distance from Baton Rouge. You can take the lakeshore trail 7 miles in and then spin around and hit those same 7 miles back to your car or you can continue onto two other trail systems adding more an more miles to your ride. All trails seem to be riden often and are a blast to ride. Camping is also a great option if the weather is gonna be nice. The bike trails are literally right behind our last camp spot where we had a nice hilltop view of one of the lakes! It was a great trip, can't wait to go back!

Review: I rode this trail on 8/27 prior to Hurricane Isaac making landfall. Trail was well marked and offered great scenery. Equal mix of exciting downhill and challenging uphill. Roots on the ascents made for an difficult challenge to maintain your climb. There were 3 different large trees down over the trail which required a dismount & carry of your bike over or around the tree. It is an out & back trail and I averaged about 6 mph UNTIL I had an unfortunate situation where a large limb on the trail got caught in my rear spokes & broke the rear derailleur bracket. I pushed my bike the remaining 4.5 miles back to the starting point. All in all this is a great trail & one of the few good ones we have in Central Louisiana giving a capable challenge while still offering good scenery & great fun. I look forward to riding again.

Review: For me, this trail is one of the more difficult in the Kincaid area. Starting at the boat ramp, you have mostly hills. It's a great trail though, with a even match of up and downhills. With the downhills, a lot of speed can be had in certain areas. You do cross a road a couple times near the end. It's well kept up but not as much as the loop is.

Review: Rode this a few years ago while stationed at Ft. Polk. Found myself at a miss-marked section near the parking area and boat ramp where the trail ended. So I cut the ride short.

Similar Trail: Wild Azalea Trail

Review: Best trail in Central LA. There are excellent trails on both the east and west sides of Kincaid Lake. There are several options for out and back rides or even loops. You can access the trail from the East Boat Ramp off Messina Rd or from the Recreation Area on the West side of the lake.

Similar Trail: The Wild Azalea is near and even has a spur off the Kincaid trail leading to it. It's not as well maintained and the flow of the ride just isn't as fun but if you're looking to add miles it's a decent option.
