Mountain Biking Colorado Trail: Hwy 50 to Marshall Pass
#750 of 1,354 mountain bike trails in Colorado
This is Segment 15 of the CT. It is mostly singletrack and has spectacular views. The trail is narrow with a good mix of smooth and chunky portions. The first 9 miles are almost all uphill with a few red zones to remind you how little oxygen is in the air. It reaches its top at a little over 11,900'. From there the trail descends more than it ascends to Marshall Pass.

Start from the Monarch Pass parking lot and head south up the dirt road. The dirt road is officially part of this segment (Segment 15), but the singletrack begins about 0.45 miles up the road from the parking lot. The trail forks off to the right. There is a trail sign.
A demanding trail at elevation with over 3400' of climbing, an average grade of 6% and a maximum grade of 35% (as you approach the 9 mile marker). It is also part of the Continental Divide Trail and a major portion of the legendary Monarch Crest Ride.Thank |
