This is a 5 mile beginners out and back singletrack ride with a very little
elevation change. The trail has no sandy spots and is pretty smooth. From
the parking area head towards the metal gate to the Southeast. The trail
goes East and after a few yards you will come to a sign for the Northern
trail. It will announce milages for Miller Backcountry Camp and San Pedro
House. This sign lies. It is actually 5 miles to the camp and 9 miles to the
San Pedro House. For this ride pass the sign and continue on the trail wich
will lead East and South across former pasture land and end at the
Northern edge of the small town of Palominas at the Waters Road
Trailhead. There is a charming bed and breakfast inn near the trailhead
located at the East end of Waters Road. This is the Casa De San Pedro and
I found the owner very friendly and the atmoshere very serene.
The best part of this trail is the mileage. Its flat, sandy in parts and you'll be completely exposed. Most of the trail is double track with some singletrack at the start near the Hereford Bridge. There is parking on the right prior to the bridge (it's marked by a sign) eaded toward Bisbee. I rode from there to the San Pedro House and back for a total of 18.44 miles. There is some singletrack to explore closer to the river. Not the best trail but beats being on the road. Bring water, tools and sunblock.
