Mountain Biking Geraldine MTB Track
#137 of 193 mountain bike trails in South Island
The Geraldine MTB track is an easy Sunday spin. The track has no technical or scenic interest but is tranquil, flat and fast if you're in the mood. It's suitable for the whole family.
The track goes up and down the banks of the Orari River which is generally dry in summer so you can cross it. The track is sometimes singletrack and sometimes follows old four wheel drive tracks.
The locals obviously enjoy it as it appears to be well used and there is a nice brochure about it available at the Geraldine information centre. An annual mountain bike event is held on the track each year in March. You'll find information at www.geraldingbikechallenge.co.nz.

Exit Geraldine on McKenzie Street which becomes Orari Station Road. Turn left into Vance Road after about 5km and you'll find the car park on your left in less than a kilometre. An alternate start that is probably better is to follow highway 79 for about 7km from Geraldine towards Rangitata and use the nice car park on your right just over the Orari Bridge.
