Trail Description
About this trail
Fast singletrack that is very fun. Nothing technical whatsoever except for a couple drastic switchbacks. Get some good speed going downhill and fly all the way back up. Goes across a nice 70' wooden bridge through the swamp. The scenery is great; for part of the trail the Neuse River is in view through the woods. Good for beginners, fun for anyone.

Review: All offroad trails are closed down for reconstruction. There is a paved track around the campsites that is pretty fun though! Made it about 7 laps.

Review: I believe I was the first rider out this morning so if you hit the trails today they should be clear of all the spiderwebs anyway. The backside does have some really tight spots but the amount of traffic out there is minimal. End state it was a good time.

Review: Had a good ride today at the loop, only negative was the growth along the trail a couple spots are hard to see around corners and then some of the bushes and such protruding into the trail had some thorns or stickers on them which drew some blood. We'll find out in the next couple of days if any of it was poison ivy I guess haha.

Review: Rode this trail for the first time yesterday. Really like this kind of trail as the trails I usually ride are on sand ridges & pine woods. Rode 10.1 miles as I got turned around on the trail across the road but that was OK as I intended to get in ten miles anyway. Will definitely be back. I spend most summer weekends directly across the river@ Kennels Beach.

Review: My grandson (9) and I rode this trail recently and had a great time. It was his first singletrack on dirt and he loved it. Lots of roots and a few short, steep climbs, but doable. Nice 70' bridge as you get closer to the end and there are chiggers (DAMHIK). We are definitely going back. The rec area with tables and restrooms is very nice and great for lunch after riding the trail.

Review: My wife and I had a great time on this trail. We parked in the main parking lot and entered there. The first half of the track was fast and fun. The trail was marked with State park signs, which made it simple to stay on course. Once you cross the road to the back half, it got a tad confusing in spots. It wasn't maintained as well as the first half. Some trees had white arrows painted on them, however they were fading in spots. There was a bit of flooding on the back side while there, so we got our fee wet.

Spiders... so many spiders. If you are the first rider on the trail that day, you will be the spider web clearer by default. I cleared them all with my face while there.

We vacation in the area every year, and we can't wait to go back and ride it again.

Review: I've traveled here twice in order to bike and camp. The trails can be a little rough to follow at first, but once you get the hang of them - it's easy to follow. Great trails for both hiking and riding. As such, be mindful of the hikers. There are some great foot bridges and switchbacks along the way. The campground is also located on the trail system. It's VERY clean and well kept. Ensure that you take your camera! The view of the Neuse River is incredible! I can't wait to go back!

Review: I am new to mountain biking/trail riding, but not new to biking in general. I am having so much fun riding this trail. There are lots of twists and turns and roots and short steep hills. I typically park in the parking lot but you can also park on the road where the trial crosses it and get on the trial there. If you park in the parking lot, I find the trial to the left to be tons of fun although it is only about 2 miles to the road. When you cross the road to the other part of the trial there are a couple options. The trial kind of comes to a T shortly after crossing the road and you can go left or right. The left is the shorter route (about 3-4 miles). The right eventually comes up to what is probably a fire road. Turn right on it but look for a trail coming off of it within about 10-20 yards and take it to the left. That will take you back to the picnic area. Both routes take you over a bridge close to the water near the end. You can also reverse the route. Lots of fun and a good workout on a 6-7 mile routes. Do it twice!

Review: Guess what! Its fall and you are in the woods. Going to be some leaves on the trail lol. Otherwise super fun trail for Eastern NC. Beats the Bicycle post trails all to pieces for sheer enjoyment. The newer loop on the right side of the road driving in will get better the more its ridden I think. Just not as hard as it could be yet.

Review: Rode it today and really enjoyed it. Leaves and pine needles are down good but its to be expected as its the middle of November. Wish someone would put a complete trail map somewhere. I rode 7.8 miles there today but rode the short hilly loop 2 or 3 times and then the long one that comes out onto flanners beach road. Much better flow than Bicycle post trail and more what mountain biking should be imo.
