Mountain Biking Edwards Point

***   Add a review
#149 of 195 mountain bike trails in Tennessee
#10081 in the world

Easy Trail is to take the Jeep Trails down to the look out (Breathtaking view of the City and River) and then take the Jeep trails back out.

A more technical ride is to take the Main Entrance and ride down to the Jeep Roads. You can go left to the Overlook or hand a right and take the jeep road out.

Mushroom rock (I have yet to make it all the way to the rock) is very technical. Going in the left side is an easy decent while the right is large rock drop offs.

Getting there
To get to the trail head from Chattanooga: From I-27 (Corridor J) north, take the Signal Mtn exit and continue up Signal Mtn. Take a sharp left turn at the top of the mountain just before the traffic light. Follow this road around until you come to a 5-way intersection near a golf course. Turn left on Timberlinks. Continue on Timberlinks through some road construction and over a new bridge. At the top of the hill past the new bridge look for some power lines. The main trail head is on the left just before the power lines. Park on the side of the road here. Or continue a little farther. The main road (now Shackleford Ridge) curves to the right and the road to the left is Edward's Point Rd. Turn left here and park at the old school/hunt club on the right. Go left from the hunt club and the jeep road into Edward's Point is on the right.

Good ride with an incredible view but trails are not marked which makes it very difficult to navigate and there were lots of trees down.

I probably took a wrong turn because I ended up going down hill and ended up near a creek. It was also the first day of hunting season, and leaves made good traction really difficult. Best after a good dry streak because of all the mud puddles. Overall it's not a really technical ride out there but it is totally worth it. There are several hiking trails that add up for all the mileage. Those are much more rocky and technical. It's a good ride worth your time if you're passing through or in the general area. This was my first time and I live 2.5 miles from the trail head

4-wheeler and jeep roads, mud and ruts.. but the view is great.. and at the end, the C.T. passes threw and it is hiking only right and left at the overlook..

The ride really isn't all that great since it is rutted out four wheeler trails, but the views at the end are totally worth it! It's less than 5 miles one way from the road to the overlook, but there are plenty of spurs and other loops out there. Not sure if there's actually 25 miles or not, but there's a lot.

A few different trails can be taken out there. Either way its fairly basic down the jeep trail. Starting lower down the hill is more difffuclt but still only takes about 30 minutes getting out there. The view is well worth the ride though.

Plan on spending the bigger part of the day here. Pace your self on the way up and remember its all downhill back to the car at the end. Please use a map or you may take a wrong turn and add a tough couple of hours to your ride.
