Mountain Biking Discovery Hill Trails
#7 of 317 mountain bike trails in Idaho
There are many great trails in the Discovery Hill Trail system. From gravel roads to two tracks to tons and tons of singletrack. All abilities will enjoy riding here.
2011 Update: The BLM is installing trailmarkers along 3 loop of the Discovery Hill trail system. Each loop will be given a color for the trailhead map. Trailmarkers will have corresponding colored arrows to help people find their way. Green-Owl Canyon Loop, Orange-Enduro Loop, and Blue-Slump Gulch Loop.
2013 Update: The Slump Ridge Trail has been officially added to the trail system and has post markers to guide you. This trail follows a ridge and connects the Enduro and Slump Gulch Trails for another loop option. The trail is directional and should be ridden from East to West.

From downtown Salmon take St. Charles Street (2 blocks East of the Salmon river) to the north. Follow this thru town and up onto Old Dump Hill where the road turns to gravel. Continue on the gravel until you see a sign pointing to Holcomb Field/MX Park/Discovery Hill. Proceed staight, over a cattle guard and the Disco Trailhead is on the right.

This area holds some fun singletrack, but it is not one of the best trail systems in Idaho (as it is frequently ranked on Singletracks). Fun to explore, some good views, but kind of boring.
Thank |Great trails close to town and open early and late in the season. Lots of options and fun up and down.
Thank |I was in the area visiting my brother and had decided to bring my bike with me, just in case. It was my first ride out of the season, so I was looking for something not too technically difficult, but with enough hills to challenge my legs and lungs a bit and get me in to shape. This trail was perfect!! I was primarily on the Slump Gulch loop and Enduro Loop.
Thank |These are the first trails to dry out in the Spring in the Salmon area. We are riding the singletrack in March. Disco Hill is a great place to bust out a few loops to make the legs stronger for all the epics later in the summer.
