Trail Description
About this trail
Coyote Hills Regional Park is located right on the San Francisco Bay, and many of the trails provide amazing views of the Bay! One of the best trails, the Bay View trail, is paved and is open to bikes. The Red Hill trail is a fire road open to bikes and goes straight up and straight down the hills, providing amazing views but requiring some hiking unless you really keep your speed up. There are a number of other doubletrack trails spread across the park, including some trails heading straight out into the bay on levees with water on both sides! Unfortunately, all of the singletrack trails here are off limits to bikes. It's a pretty complex network, so be sure to study the map at the trailhead well and to check the signs.

Review: The best Mountain biking route in Coyote is the Red hill trail that takes you up the spine of the coyote hills. Use the paved bay view trail from visitor center and start the climb up red hill where Bay view trail meets Alameda Creek Trail. Beware though that a couple of places the grade can be pretty steep and perhaps too much for beginner bikers.

Review: This trial can be crowded with hikers, runners and other than bike. A time saver for those who live nearby, good brisk riding. Small steep hill to climb' otherwise the trail is easy to ride.

Review: Not really mountain biking, but some good views of the bay. There are a few trails that you can go up in the middle, but mostly asphalt. You can take the gravel trail into the bay.

Review: There are both a paved trail and some dirt trails. You can ride in various routes making a different ride each time. Overall, a good place to ride.

Review: This area is only good for the views of the bay, as all (I think) of the singletrack in the park is off limit to bikes, and the doubletrack riding really isn't much fun.

Review: Good view trails as people mentioned, but there are some fun and lightly technical trails that (yes are off-limits to bikes). That being said, this is either a casual stroll around the park kind of ride or (for those willing to take the risk) it can be a nice place to practice the essential skills needed to ride light to moderate technical single tracks. The off-limit trails are typically very short, but offer some declines, lightly off-camber turns, some switchbacks (really only one main one right in the front of the visitor center area). Other than that, legally this is only a fireroad ride at most.
