Trail Description
About this trail
At the Coed Y Brenin mountain bike centre there is a café, bike shop, skills area and eight trails:
* Yr Afon, green, beginner, 11km...
* MinorTaur, blue, easy, 9km...
* Temtiwr, red, intermediate, 9km...
* Cyflym Coch, red, intermendiate 11km...
* MBR, black, advanced, 18km...
* Tarw Du, black, advanced, 20km...
* Dragons Back, red, intermediate, 31km...
* Beast, black, advanced, 31km...

That sounds like a lot a riding but the trails are not discreet - they typically branch off sections of common trail. In other words they share the same trail for much of their distance. Yr Afon, the beginner trail is on forestry road. The rest of the trails are typically about half forestry road. The amount of discreet singletrack is quite limited but it is good. They are rocky all weather trails with lots of cobbled slabs of rock. Down slope sections usually feature drops - the favourite technical feature of the trail makers. Fast flowing trail with berms and jumps is hard to find. Like most UK bike centres, the emphasis tends to be on the challenge rather than fun.

Review: There is a good range of all-weather trails at Coed Y Brenin - there's a trail to suit everyone from beginners to experts. Once you've paid the heafty parking fee you'll be set for a good day out both on the bike and in the expansive cafe. The centre's website gushes about "it's reputation as the sport's premier location". The reality is that in international terms these trails are ho-hum even though they do have their moments.

Review: A physically challenging set of trails but with the challenge comes a big scoop of fun too.

Review: My last ride at these trails was sweet although the trails higher in the mountains needed some maintenence and were badly warn. Some of the newer routes are much of an improvment on the older sections

Similar Trail: Bacause of the recent investments, Afan Forest Park has the edge at the moment
