Trail Description
About this trail
Fun for the whole family. Several miles of groomed single track that any skill level can enjoy. You can make this ride easy or difficult with different connections, out and backs and loops. The rocks are open for slick-rock style riding. No marking but can't get lost. Just make your ride among the huge boulders. There is a new book on all the bouldering routes for climbers. Trail maps are available at the parking lot. National bouldering meets have been held here. Excellent star watching. It's your fault if you get bored here. Feb. 2013 saw the completion of a 1.7 mile out and back to the top of the mesa. There is some hike-a-bike on the way up, but a great view and easy ride back down. Tire sealant strongly suggested.

Review: The 5 mile outer trail is pretty tame, wide and mostly loose gravel but great views. The 1.56 mile trail to the observation point is challenging with some sections of hike a bike. The ride down is great which brings us to the slick rock which is really fun to play around on. It is a State park and there is a $5 entry fee that is paid by envelope or at the Ranger station.

Review: Slick Rock trail was fun. Nice tune up for Moab or Gooseberry. The climb to the mesa is tough but the reward is in coming down. It is over way too soon.

Review: fine riding with endless possibilities in the square mile of slickrock among giant boulders, a 5 mile gentle but fun loop for warmup & cool-down, and a challenging climb to a mesa top with great views

Review: This was AWESOME!!! The cool slick rock trail that's been marked is like nothing else in the area. Full of narrow, twisty, sometimes technical, slow speed fun. Then, for a change of pace, head up to the mesa on a beautiful and challenging ribbon of sweet single track. I'd LOVE to know if anyone can clean this climb! This is a huge secret that even most locals are unaware of-- and it's just 30 min. away from Silver City. I definitely plan to make it a seasonal ride!!

Review: Piss off TreyGL6, this trail system can be ridden all day long, all year long! It's fun, fast, smooth, rocky, and is set among the best scenery you'll find in the Southwest! I rate it higher because of these features. Well made trails are few and far between in the desert. And you don't have to worry about thorns either.

Review: First and foremost...this is a hiking trail...not a berm to be had in sight! Sand, loose, no features...Boring!!! The Rocks are cool. That's it!

Review: Great Sunday afternoon ride with the family or can be a good workout. Trails have been groomed for mountain biking. There are sections that will challenge all skill levels. The park has a lot to offer for those who want to picnic, rock climb, hike, bike, etc.
