Trail Description
About this trail
Trail is now open. This is a new trail system the SCORR (Sarasota Charlotte county Off Road Riders) Just built last spring and has been under water most of the summer. If you want to experience Florida riding at it's best, now is the time. You will get your feet a little wet, it will be 5 challenging miles, you'll get your heart rate up, your bike will get dirty, but you'll end up with a smile on your face.

Review: First visit to the Carlton/ Lincer Preserves and enjoyed my ride. Thanks to Sarasota County Parks and land managers for making this happen. Hit all but Boldly Go today. Nice prelude of grassy, wide trail that takes you to each trail spur, thoroughly enjoyed. Look forward to my next visit to try the Boldly Go 9.0 newly created trail by SCORR.

Review: Parts of the trail (Boldly Go) were flooded and some parts were roped off as closed. Great trail to get some cardio in. Would love to ride it when passable all around.

Review: This review is just for the Boldly Go section of trail in the Carlton Preserve. You can choose to make it a loop by connecting Boldly Go with the red trail access road back to the parking lot. I don't normally do that because I find the Red trail boring, hard, and not well marked. A good place to turn around is the second picnic table. If you decide to make it a loop instead of turning around, take a map.
The Boldly Go section is well marked, and has some fun areas. It was built with a great deal of care and love by local riders. You have to give them credit, they did an awesome job considering what they had to work with, which is FL swamp and scrub. If you go in comparing it to trails in NC or TN, you might be disappointed. But FL has some pretty wilderness too. You can see lots wildlife on this trail, and most of the trail is in the shade, which matters in FL. The beginning of Boldly Go takes you through a sandy, rooty area, but keep going, it gets better.
There is no fee for parking, and bathrooms are available at the park.

Review: Trail is flooded and closed, wear lots of bug spray, spiders, ticks etc. Not currently groomed. Make sure trail is pruned. Once in, you either make entire 10 mile loop or calculate a retreat.

Review: Rode this on 7/28/2014. It was very difficult to find the trail head. There were no signs on the roads leading to the park and once we found the park there no signs to direct us to the trail head. We got about 2.5 to 3 miles into the trail and ran into a lot a water/swamp and had turn around. The trail we rode was nice, more of a beginner level with a few roots.

Review: Nice 5.5 mile trail that can be combined with the red/blue trail to total around 10 miles. The single track part of the trail has a we technical areas with up and downs, along with tight turns. Nothing extreme but fun!

Review: New section has just been built. trail system is now a 10 mile loop including the last couple miles on a fire road. The new trails are BRAND NEW so they are a little rough going but the more you ride them the better they will be!
