This review is just for the Boldly Go section of trail in the Carlton Preserve. You can choose to make it a loop by connecting Boldly Go with the red trail access road back to the parking lot. I don't normally do that because I find the Red trail boring, hard, and not well marked. A good place to turn around is the second picnic table. If you decide to make it a loop instead of turning around, take a map.
The Boldly Go section is well marked, and has some fun areas. It was built with a great deal of care and love by local riders. You have to give them credit, they did an awesome job considering what they had to work with, which is FL swamp and scrub. If you go in comparing it to trails in NC or TN, you might be disappointed. But FL has some pretty wilderness too. You can see lots wildlife on this trail, and most of the trail is in the shade, which matters in FL. The beginning of Boldly Go takes you through a sandy, rooty area, but keep going, it gets better.
There is no fee for parking, and bathrooms are available at the park.
