Mountain Biking Cancha Carrera

****   Add a review
#2 of 9 mountain bike trails in Chile
#10,483 in the world

A very hard circuit, for advanced riders only.
With a wide variety of terrains, Cancha carrera is definetly one of the bests downhill trails of Santiago.
In the top, it is very technical with difficult sections through loose rock-gardens and anti-cant curves, with hardpack to loose-over-hardpack conditions, but as you are going down, it becomes more flowy, with nice zigzags, gaps, jumps and fast turns. Finally, in the lower section, it goes deep into forests, passing over more tighten rock-gardens and with several fast zigzags.
It will keep you on fire all the way down, but keep all your senses clear so you do not miss the trail.
It is recommended to go with someone who knows very well the area, or at least having a GPS with you, because there are many crossing roads and some easy-to-miss sharp turns that may lead you to dead ends.

Getting there
In Santiago, reach the south end of La Plaza street, that passes by the east side of the Universidad de Los Andes, in the commune of Las Condes. Pass over the fence that blocks the end of the street, and take the gravel road that goes to the east, after a few meters turn left and thats were the trail begins.

Long climb up and Fast!! ride down. Spent about 25% of the time hiking up while carrying bike. Must check in with security Guards at the gate before riding the trail. Ensure you get emergency contact phone number from the guards prior to going up. A lot of people get hurt on this trail. Watch out for horses and hikers. Great photo's and outstanding ride.
