Trail Description
About this trail
Calvin Crest mtb trail is located on the bluffs of the Platte River. 95% of the trail is in deciduous pine and cedar trees. The trail starts at the top of the bluff and rolls down and up drainage to a center spine of cedars about a mile in length. Then it climbs out to the top of the bluff where five switchbacks take users down the 100' bluff face to the river bottom. At the bottom is a 30' cable suspension bridge that allows users to cross drainage  (bikes need to go single-file one at a time). The trail continues along the Platte River bank before turning inland for a quarter mile climb up the bluff face, then a few more switchback climbs before riding a cabin sidewalk back to the parking lot.

Review: Best trail in Nebraska. Flowy, up and down, back and forth, fun and fast, a more challenging section for some, others can skip for an easier ride. Might be difficult to find trail head if you are new to area, but once inside you can't really get lost in the one way trail. I would consider it a blue trail. Beginners will get a lung workout. May be closed on some days for special events as this is on private land at Camp Calvin Crest.

Review: what a beautiful area. This is the first time I've ridden this trail. The leafs had changed color and fallen which made it slick in a few climbs but it was worth it for the views. The ride along the river was a great addition. I stopped in a view places to take photos. A great ride , I will definitely come back. I can't wait to do it when everything is green and dry.

Review: Calvin Crest is arguably the best trail in Nebraska. It is situated in hills next to the Platte River, near Fremont, NE. With 450-500 foot of vertical over 5.8 miles, there is not a ton of climbing involved, just flowy goodness! There are a few smaller drops (more like rollers) scattered throughout the trail that are great for intermediate riders to help develop comfort in the air. THOR, the local trail advocacy group, has done a great job of developing this trail system.

Review: What a great single track!! Well taken care of. Unfortunately I didn't have my bike but I did run the course. Fun, flowing and fast. Some good climbs with rewarding sections. Look forward to riding it soon!

Review: Rode this trail Oct 9. It's a well maintained and marked trail. There are a couple of jumps, a roller coaster hill and an awesome section of switchbacks descending downhill. Plenty of climbing too! There is a section marked difficult or one can choose the easy option. The difficult section stays true to the "marker". This trail is awesome!

Review: Rode this on 29 June 2013. Was a blast. Other than the trail needing to be marked a little better in just a few spots, it was easy to follow. Following the actual trail isn't bad at all. There are tight switchbacks, whoops, drops and climbs. There are also a few bridges and berms. You don't have to walk across the suspention bridge, if you go straight the trail takes you around it. One drop was a pretty steep freefall for a ways. There is an easy route or a difficult, take difficult, it's more fun. Will go out and ride again. Well maintained trail. I'll take photos next time.

Similar Trail: Kinda like Lewis and Clark

Review: This trail has some promising features and lots of potential. However, lack of signage and criss crossing trails only lead to confusion. Trail doesnt flow well at all. Go from sections of short fast descents and uphills to completely flat boring ride. We got turned around so many times we were just excited to get out. Its really too bad that trails are not marked clearly and dont flow together well because there are some sections that have some great stuff that other trails dont. I thought it was worth the 45 min drive but wont be going back.
