Bolinas Ridge is spectacular. You may run across a few bikers and runners, but the fire road has enough room that nobody is miffed. We did Feature Ride 1 as suggested by bikemapdude.com and found the descent to Olema Valley via Mc Curdy Trail to be severely rutted. It is a poorly maintained trail that has overkill water bars for half the way down. However , the second half gets better. I suspect few people actually use it. At the bottom we crossed to return up the Olema Valley trail to complete a 20 mile loop. However, as stated, this trail is severely overgrown and the stinging nettle & poison oak forced us back to Hwy 1 to return to the trailhead at Sir Frances Drake. I am sure this changes depending on the season and amount of precipitation. Several people suggested that the Randall Trail is a much better connection. Next time, we will either stick to an out and back along the ridge or take the Randall Trail down to the valley below. All in all, It was well worth the adventure!
