About 7km of the Bur Oak mountain bike trail is being groomed this winter for fat biking. (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/fat-bike-winter-trail-riding-manitoba-1.3915286)

    Reviewing Burr Oak:

The nature of the trail is windy, switchbacked single track. The trail is narrow in many spots, and is well guarded by trees and the occasional boulder to keep one on track. The only really lack is elevation change, as there is very little overall grade. Off camber roots, and the odd dip and berm help to make it incredibly interesting despite the flat nature. All in all, an awesome trail to ride again and again!

    Reviewing Burr Oak:

This is some of the best singletrack that is close to Winnipeg. It has some switchbacks covered in roots that have some quick ups and downs along with some wide open track to pedal your heart out. This is a challenging in terms of cardio, and if you push yourself for the whole 7km you will feel it, but the most technical part of the trail is just navigating the roots and the quick ups and downs of the switchbacks.

A year I road this trail for the first time during a race and a thunderstorm. This time there was no race

What I loved about this trail was that my whole family could ride it so my 8 year old and 6 year old were able to ride it. As a family who loves to ride bikes this trail was perfect for us.

    Reviewing Burr Oak:

Trail is packed into a tight wooded space which is very rooty, and has a few sections with rock gardens. Technical challenge comes from all the tight turns between trees. You can't really go fast through most of the trail due to the tight turns and two-way track. One short flowy section exists towards the end. Due to nearby sand dunes, thick sand exists in several places including on one hilly section. The trail is a good skill building opportunity to work through tight turns, rooty sections and sand. Has a mix of conditions not found everywhere.
