Mountain Biking Arthurs Seat MTB Park

*****   Add a review
#1 of 55 mountain bike trails in Victoria
#343 in the world

Starting from trail #1 'Pink Line' through the gate only for mountain bikers , trail #1 leads you onto trail #2 'Rock Salt' & this trail then leads onto the main trail head of the park where 5 separate trails then lead off from this trail head . The trails vary from easy(green) , then onto intermediate(blue) & then single black diamond , double black diamond & then the triple black diamond runs that would seriously challenge the riders of the Red Bull Rampage , its a big call , take a very serious look at these trails before you even consider them . Trail #8 'Pins & Needles' starts with a black diamond technical skills test & the singletracks into numerous large jumps , fast sections , steep drops off camber traverses , only to be considered by very advanced to professional standard . Fortunately , most of the trails will test intermediate to advanced , & the views on some trails is ridiculously beautiful . This MTB Park trail network loops around the top of a mountain , & the surrounding views of the ocean & nearby vineyards are simply stunning . The terrain is varied , & the trails are in top condition traversing through different forests , switchbacks , fast flowing singletrack , loops , jumps all along the blue & black trails of varying height & technical difficulty . The trails are newly marked but take a trail map as there are some fire trail connecting trails to the network of trails . The MTB Park was only opened in autumn 2015 in conjunction with the RedHillRiders MTB Club & Parks Victoria . There are pine forests , vineyards , sweeping views of the ocean , very nice sandy loam surfaces on the trails so they don't get muddy even after much rain . Along trail #3 'Slippery Gypsy' , it snakes through a forest of wildflowers , ferns under a canopy of trees . There are some easy trails that are beginner friendly , as well as some trails that are fast descending technical trails with berms , huge jumps , a & b line options , as well as big rock drops & steep chutes , only for those who really know what they are doing . I would have to rate this MTB Park as one of the country's finest , & the National Parks Service as well as Red Hill Riders MTB Club are still building , planning & adding new trails . This MTB Park is awesome fun for beginners to very advanced .

Getting there
From Melbourne follow the M1 freeway to Dromana & take the road to Arthurs Seat . Its about a 60 km drive & about 45 minutes in the car from town . It is a freshly built MTB Park & only opened for mountain bikers in autumn this year (2015) . Once you drive through the main town of Arthurs seat , take the Arthurs Seat Road about a mile out of town & the car park to the MTB Park is on the left just off the main road . The village of Arthurs Seat nearby has shops for supplies & gas . I'd say this aprk will become a premier mountain biking location .

Spent a few hours here recently and loved it. Spent a few hours here just exploring first thing in the morning and managed to slam into a tree going downhill on my last run. 10/10. Can't wait to get back.

O boy this was challenging. Thought i was intermediate before i got here, but clearly i am a rookie. So many trails, the green ones are good for me, but soms bits of the blue tracks (2 downhill, 6 uphill) i had to walk. Either to steep and fast and couldn't control the bike or to though to climb.

Fantatic natural surroundings. Will come back here for sure, with more experiance and training up my sleeve.

Fall Line has been worked on and is now even better, great beams, bigger jumps

Greta trails, with more of a hand build type feel.
They are more technical than Lysterfield and Buxton with a few rock gardens, off camber roots and steep climbs (Pine Climb). Funny enough I find the riding slightly less enjoyable than other trails but far more rewarding when finished due to the climbs and technical aspects.
Caters to the more experienced riders.
Note: The skills park is great for the kids with easy access and cafes near by to keep everyone happy.

What a great trail. Suitable for all levels of experience.
I am normally on the road bike, but this track will make we want to get out the MTB on a regular basis.
There are some great views and it's a tough and fun track.

A super fun network of trails traversing around the top of Arthurs Seat & with mountain views of the ocean , vineyards , pine forests , eucalpyt forests , ferns , rock gardens , wildflowers & a trail network for the beginner to the most advanced , a new park only opened this autumn(2015) in conjunction with Parks Victoria & the Red Hill Riders MTB Club , & bound to be one of the country's most sought riding experiences .
