Mountain Biking Abanachee Loop
#119 of 302 mountain bike trails in New York
the trail is home made, lots of fun and very managable for beginners, but also good for regular riders. leaves on the trail make it difficult to see, but not a worry. try and stick with the trail so it gets packed the right way, and minimal damage is done to the woods. there is a bear on the McCauley side of Abinachee who has cubs every year or so. she is scary but won't hurt you. her expectations are that you keep going!!
The loops are a good run if you experts have just ridden Nick's Lake and tested your endurance climbing McCauley Mountain.
Old Forge has miles of really good trails, mostly singletrack and hidden. This is a great place for novice riders and after work types like me

from behind the health center, go straight up. find the loops and ribbons markers or not so well marked. the trail goes up and you are about at the top when you find the old truck that used to run the ski lift, the summit is just ahead. go over the summit, to the left takes you deeper, to the right, back to the old ski hill and a short, but fun down hill run.
many trails connect with this network, directly or indirectly, including Nick's Lake, McCauley mountain, and the snowmobile trails- dirt roads beginner etc.
