Over all a good hard tail bike for beginners and intermediate riders but still can be used in advance trails just be ready for wear to settle in sooner than you except.
Pros Light weight and very sturdy for hard riding. The brakes are great until that heat up and lose a bit of power at high speeds.
Cons The grips start to loosen up and begin to move after a while. The stock tires are starting to wear on the side walls and looking like they need replacement sooner then I expected .
I purchased this bike over the weekend to get back into riding (use to be into bmx as a kid) and I must say that I really like this bike. I know you may read others say things about the disc brake system and forks but I took mine out to Stony Creek today and it was GREAT! I had a wonderful time riding the trails and even trying my hand on the skill course and made it out just fine even with all the obstacles. This is not just a bike for beginners. I would recommend this to anyone except maybe the X-Game type guys and gals. The frame is sturdy and can handle anything thrown at it. And at $500 and a lifetime warranty what more can you ask for. ProsFrame, ride, components, price ConsSaddle but that's because I haven't gotten use to it or broken it in.
If you dont have a lot of money to dump into a bike this is the way to go... Great frame to build on. Since this is the bike that got me started it gets 3 stars...
My first real MTB, but I have ridden a few other higher quality bikes. I love this bike. The price point is awesome and with some upgrades the bike is on point. the saddle and pedals have to be replaced immediately. i also replaced the brakes as they seemed to need a lot of adjusting and the rotors bend easy with heavy riding (trails/jumps). The suspension leaves a lot to be desired and I think after I upgrade the fork I can see myself riding this bike for a long time without any more upgrades.
Replace the brakes or buy the V-brake model. then youre good to go.
Pros Great price, Sturdy Frame takes pretty much whatever you throw at it. Components hold up very well for lower priced stuff. the warranty rocks
Cons The ProMax Disc Brakes SUCK! First off they DO NOT grab its so hard to stop with them, and second they break(not brake) VERY easy i have broken 4 front calipers and 6 rear ones. luckily they were replaced free with warranty.
