Had this bike for two years now. Ridden it on anything from Downieville to the MRT. It handles all of that type of terrain. Rocky. Flowy. 5,000 foot plus climbs and descents. Rear suspension is a bit stiff when in trail mode, but is close to perfect in descend mode. Running a 120 Talas, Reynolds AM wheels, and Sram X0 2x10. I pretty much run it in the longer travel option all of the time. I'd skip the Talas if I were building this up again and go with a 120 Float. I use it as an all day trail bike, and endurance racer.
Pros Light, versatile, and sexy. Great suspension design.
Cons hmmm. Maybe a little bit of flex in the front end during hard corners. Could be the 32mm stanchions on the Fox Talas 120 fork though.
I ride a Jet 9 when my Stumpjumper is down and I have to say it is a lot of fun. It handles rough terrain like a bike that has longer travel. Very plush, very fast bike. Like all the other Niners, it is very light as well. This is my favorite bike from Niner so far (only because I haven't ridden the RDO version yet.)
Pros -Light
-Fast
-Handles like a smaller bike
-Very plush suspension
-Pro pedal is not needed...not much pedal bob

I highly recommend the Jet9 for all around XC and light trail work. I am 5'8",190lbs. and the medium size fits fine.

Cons
ThankI wouldn't mind another inch of travel!
