I love these tires - they really grip on loose stuff, mud and roots. My rear wheel will stick on just about anything with almost no spinout. I did notice that I like to replace this tire long before the tread totally wears out as they become stiffer after 1,500 miles or so. Still a great tire even at that mileage but I can afford to move a worn tire up to the front and splurge to keep newer rubber on the rear. Highly recommend if you ride rocky, rooty or muddy trails!
This is a great tire with excellent traction which you can really feel in corners. However, the transition to the side knobs is not completely smooth. So I ride this in the rear paired with a DHF on the front.
Pros Wow. It feels like a new bike coming from stock Bontrager tires. The grip has made me exponentially more confident in hairy sections, downhill, corners. Judicious Grip.
I run this on the front in front of a high roller on the back. Love hate relationship, coming from a small block 8 these are heavier and don't climb as easy because of it (hate) then point me down the hill and watch out because these things Rip! (love) they handle great and have no problems in loose stuff.
Pros Grips and corners like no tire I've ridden before. Threw it into some dusty corners on my ride today and was amazed by how firm it held the trail. The power and speed you can hold out of a corner is a vast improvement on what I was running before.
Very noticeable, the ability to really lay into a corner and feel the outer tread hook up well. Like them better than ardent up front. I ride wet and tech terrain. I'd buy these again for sure!
I'm running this tire on the rear of my slope/DH bike and the front of my wife's trail bike. Overall, a better roller than a Minion but I trust it just as much when I lean into it. One of my favorite tires.
Pros Great Grip
Faster rolling than a Minion
Pairs great with a DHF up front
One of the best freeride tires has been revamped! Now have grooves (Sipes) cut into the knobs which allows it to pinch the dirt for even more grip without compromising rolling resistance.
