I love this frame and shock combo, could not be happier with it. I noticed the 2.0 and 3.0 models come with mid and lower end shocks and i believe they switched to fox in more recent years. I think the SID i put on goes great with it, I will prob upgrade to some other lighter components eventually but I don't race so...maybe a dropper post next. That's mine pictured! ( so proud ) it's white with black, red and gunmetal accents.
Pros My 2012 Outland 1.0 26" with Rockshox Monarch RT3 has the Specialized FSR geometry, it even has a sticker that says specialized on the rear triangle. 120mm travel, this is a stout XC frame that can handle a lot more. I bought the frame new as a take off so can't say much about the stock rigs. I coupled mine to a SID fork and added a 1x10 raceface ride / shimano zee drive train. This is my all purpose rig for the SE region where I live.
Cons The frame is a little heavy, but in all the right places I believe. I weigh in at about 205lbs so I feel more secure and solid on a beefier frame.
