    *****

    YES!

On smooth, groomed trail, the Hobgoblin behaves nicely, the multi-link suspension keeps bobbing in check and power transfers nicely. But in my opinion, it really shines when the trail goes up and gets chunky. There's enough travel there to soak up the sharp hits, but keeps from riding too "low" in there. Its balanced fore/aft very well, and getting up and around tricky spots is a breeze. Even if you to do a few "trials" hops...

The X7 drive train was shifting spot on as well, crisp and right in to gear. Lever throw was accurate and snappy, and I shifted a LOT of gears today. Each ride I'm getting more an more used to this bike, and am surprised just how versatile is really is. Niner advertises one of their bikes as a quiver killer - but I think that for a lot of people - the Hobgoblin could be that bike just as well.

After about 20 hours on the bike, it's time to either have it tuned up, or go over it and double check everything yourself. I found my pivot bolts coming a bit loose after my first 100 miles. Tightened them back up once, and they've been solid ever since.

If you are looking for a more ready-made blinged out version - Airborne offers an "XO" version that retails @ $2,999.95.

**Note - I am a member of Airborne's Flight Crew. As such, I receive bikes at no charge to ride, rate, review and promote.

    Pros
Price. The Hobgobln is spec'd with the SRAM X7 drivetrain, including a direct-mount front derailleur in a 2×10 setup (front is 24/38, rear cog is 11-36). Up front the "damper" duties are handled by the proven Rockshox Reba RL complete with lockout, and in the back the Rockshox Monarch RL - also sporting a lock out if you need it. Braking duties will be handled by Avid Elixr 3′s, and the Geax tires are mounted to a keen WTB wheelset. To add even more to the cool factor, the Hobgoblin frame also sports some fancy internal cable routing - bling!

    Cons
At $1749 for this spec, cons are non-existent. If I were to nitpick based on personal preference, I'd like wider bars and lock-on grips (both aftermarket upgrades I made anyhow).
